You're in good hands...
The name of Ian Allan has been synonymous with delivering high quality tours for enthusiasts since the early 1960s. This legacy extends to our people too... Our professional Tour Managers have an accumulative total of over 100 years experience and our team is perfectly placed to look after your dream trip.
That level of experience counts for a lot in this day and age.
Graham Dinsdale, Manager of Ian Allan Aviation Tours, has been in the role since 1990 and has delivered countless trips to over 75 different countries, with tens of thousands of happy aviation enthusiasts, just like you..
In late 2022, the operations of Ian Allan Aviation Tours were acquired by The Centre of Aviation Photography (COAP) - the world's largest aviation photography organisation. This move was also steeped in history as COAP's Head of Operations, Rich Cooper, was employed by Ian Allan Publishing Ltd from 1998-2008, when he established Ian Aviation Tours as a branch of the parent company.
A full circle of service to the dedicated aviation enthusiast.
Our programme of Aviation Tours throughout the year will include all the different areas of aviation – civil, military, classics, warbirds, preservation and restoration, museums and air shows... And more!
Whenever possible, pleasure flights will be offered, as an option, on some of the most famous and classical aeroplanes flying today. Feel the spirit of adventure and exhilaration of flight on board warbirds and classic civil types!
All visits to military bases, and the taking of photographs, are to be confirmed – unless stated otherwise in the tour itinerary.
Visits to civil airports and airfields will include ramp tours wherever possible, and at museums we ask to look around their workshops and restoration facilities.
Our tours are based on the requirements of aviation photographers; however, we welcome ‘non-photographer’ enthusiasts and spotters, as well as their enthusiastic partners.
At some of the famous cities and places we visit, the itinerary may well include a sightseeing tour and/or free time to enjoy the local attractions, go spotting, shopping or relaxing. All long-haul tours depart by air from the UK on the scheduled services of the world’s major airlines. In-country we travel by deluxe coach, or 7-15 seater minivans, and stay in superior 2-star (minimum) hotels or motels. There is no overnight coach travel. Some of our shorter European Tours are by deluxe coach, Eurotunnel rail services or on overnight Ferry Crossings (we will offer single and twin berth cabins).
Overseas enthusiasts are particularly welcome to join us, either in the UK or directly in the country we are visiting. Please ask for our special “Land Only” prices.
Meals are not included in the tour price unless they are part of the room rate.
Each tour will be accompanied by at least one Tour Manager, and we use some of the most experienced Tour Managers in the world with a collective experience of nearly 100 years, covering over 75 countries around the world.
