Ourfirst tour to a Mexican airshow – international aerospace exhibition – FAMEX featuring various aircraft types from the Mexican Armed Forces inventory, plus international participation. In addition to the show, we also visit the excellent collection of 50 aircraft on display in the Museo Militar de Aviacion. later in the week. In North Carolina we attend the “Wings Over Wayne” airshow which is hosted by the US Air Force on Seymour-Johnson AFB - a busy base with 4 squadrons of F-15E Strike Eagles and 2 squadrons of KC-46A Pegasus tankers. This large, annualevent is popular with aviation enthusiasts from all over the world. We stop by the Sullenberger Aviation Museum(formerly the Carolinas Aviation Museum), More than 40 iconic aircraft are ondisplay, but a highlight of the Museum is a reimagined exhibition featuring USAirways Flight 1549. Better known as the 'Miracle on the Hudson', that wassuccessfully landed on New York’s Hudson River and piloted by a certain Captain“Sully” Sullenberger! The Airbus A320 is on display. In Asheboro the Carolinas Aviation Museum is home to about a dozen aircraft including, apparently, an ex-Swedish Air Force and an RAF, Scottish AviationBulldog! We are at Seymour-Johnson for Arrivals Day as well as the airshow.
